The Magic Circle is one of the best-known and most beloved small tools in the world of Pilates. Also called the Pilates Ring or simply Ring, it was invented by Joseph Pilates himself to expand and vary his practice.
It is said that he was inspired by a beer barrel, using the iron circle and covering it up with two small towels to make it easier to grip.
Today, the Magic Circle is used to simplify or increase the difficulty level of certain exercises: both in bodyweight work and on machinery. In fact, Props can help us in proper execution, but they are used above all to make the lesson more challenging.
The Ring is perfect for a deep reinforcement work of arms and legs, without ever neglecting the activation of the core muscles (including the pelvic floor). Whenever you press it with your arms or legs, it helps you feel the power coming from your core.
Extremely versatile, the Magic Circle allows you to vary almost every exercise, providing new stimuli and maintaining a high focus on movements. It also helps focus on alignments, ensuring tactile and visual feedback.
It can also be incorporated into stretching sequences, thus increasing mobility and flexibility.
